MASS MARKET
KRAPPY KAMERA
LONESOME LAND
A solo exhibition at Christine Klassen Gallery as part of Exposure Photography Festival 2024.

Reflecting on themes of self-care, repair, the practise of kintsugi, the difficulty of letting go, tied fates, the loss of ritual and shared futures, this body of work examines our attitudes towards life's perceived flaws, whether found in the land, the wider world, or even ourselves.

Many images in this body of work were captured on medium format film, working with a variety of toy cameras, different film stocks and all the accompanying idiosyncrasies
that come along with them. Featuring richly chromatic soft tones, underpinned by a lack of control over technical elements as viewed through a lo-fi aesthetic.

Though much of the initial body of work was constructed over the course of several residencies at Empire of Dirt in Creston BC, and surrounding area on the unceded traditional territory of the Yaqan Nukiy within the Ktunaxa Nations located on a formerly logged plot of land on Goat Mountain, the project is ongoing and has other iterations in different locations.
